The cherry blossom is a flower that has had a deep connection with Japan's culture since ancient times. With the arrival of spring, the blossoms bloom, fulfill their roles, and then scatter gracefully. In this way, cherry blossoms are loved by many Japanese as symbols of the Japanese spirit. It is also a flower that represents the nation, and is used on policemen's badges and on the back of 100-yen coins.

You will be impressed by the beautiful "Sakura Tunnel" of Kitazakura-Dori (Street), which stretches about 2.5 km from Nagatoro Station to Takasago Bridge. Cherry blossoms bloom from about 400 "Somei Yoshino" cherry trees. "Yaezakura (double cherry blossoms)", which bloom a little later than the "Somei Yoshino", spread abundantly along the "Sakura Tree-Lined Pathway". Being at the foot of Mt. Hodo, you can view the cherry blossoms in the midst of nature's beauty. Both spots are lit up at night, offering a different atmosphere from daytime.

Seibuen Amusement Park

Seibuen Amusement Park is one of the most popular cherry blossom viewing places in Saitama Prefecture. From the 62-meter Ferris wheel and 80-meter gyro tower, you can enjoy great views of both the park and Ahha no Mori forest all colored in pink. After the sun has gone down, brilliant illumination makes it possible to enjoy cherry blossom viewing even at night.

In the Sayama Hills area, where Seibuen Amusement Park is also located, magnificent cherry blossom spots can be found near Lake Sayama and Lake Tama. You can enjoy the blossoms while walking along lakeside paths. You can also view the blossoms in a leisurely manner in Sayama Park. Viewing the blossoms with abundant nature all around can be very therapeutic.

Shidarezakura (Weeping Cherry Trees), Seiunji Temple

At the Seiunji Temple in Arakawa in the city of Chichibu, there is a 600-year-old giant "Edohiganzakura" tree that has been designated a Saitama Prefecture natural treasure. Reaching a height of 15 meters, the huge "Shidarezakura (weeping cherry)" tree is truly spectacular. During the peak viewing period, the Seiunji Temple area is bustling with people and events. Also, it is lit up on the first and second Friday and Saturday nights in April.

Sayama Inariyama Park

Sayama Inariyama Park

Sayama Inariyama Park is one of the best parks in Saitama Prefecture from which to enjoy the beauty of the cherry blossoms. Although the park is always lushly green, the addition of cherry blossoms in full bloom produces spring coloring over the entire area. Spots at which to enjoy a BBQ under the cherry trees have been set up, and laughter from large numbers of people can be heard during the peak viewing period.
