Moss Pink (Shibazakura)

From its Japanese name "Shibazakura", it would seem to be a type of cherry blossom "Sakura". But actually, it is a perennial of the Polemoniaceae family, Ericales order. Since it is shaped just like a cherry blossom and has leaves that cover the ground surface like grass, it was named "Shibazakura (grass cherry blossom)". Since its green-colored leaves spread even when its flowers are not in bloom, some people apparently plant moss pink in place of grass when gardening.
