Mitsumine Shrine

One of Chichibu's three major shrines, it came to be called "Mitsumine Shrine" because of the three peaks aligned to its east, namely, Mt. Kumotori, Mt. Shiraiwa, and Mt. Myohogatake. With concentrated Qi energy from these three peaks, the shrine is known as one of the leading "power spots" (areas of vital energy) in the Kanto region and attracts many worshipers.
The shrine is also known for its many historical structures, including the main shrine, its amazing, richly colored sculptures adorning the front shrine, and its surrounding cedar trees and solemn atmosphere.

Highlight

Mitsumine Shrine Sacred Trees

Towering cedar trees estimated to be 800 years old stand at the bottom of the front shrine's stone steps on both sides. It is said that you will receive power if you touch the trees, so people continuously flock to them.

Mitsumine Shrine Yohaiden (Shrine to worship gods from a distance)

This building is popular as a place to worship the distant Mt. Myohogatake's inner shrine and have a magnificent view of the scenery. If you are lucky, you may be able to witness a "sea of clouds" as well.

Mitsumine Shrine Enmusubi (Marriage) Tree

To this day, many people visit here and pray for a good marriage. Some will write the name of the person they like on a piece of paper, place it in the wish box under the Sacred Tree, and pray for a good marriage.
